Raleigh Gardens is a residential area in Lambeth in London. An integral aspect of this community is the central garden area that is walled and topped with decorative metal railings supplied by Alpha Rail in the 1980’s.
The railings we supplied were very decorative and featured bow top infills and circular metalwork. A gold disc is a centre point of each railing section, which are mounted into a brick wall topped with coping stones. The metal railings help to create a higher but open boundary to the gardens, making them accessible but private.
Most of the surrounding properties are Victorian three stories properties that have been converted into apartments, so the gardens have created peaceful recreation areas for residents in apartments without access to a garden.
Raleigh Gardens is one of the projects Alpha Rail has chosen to feature as part of its 30th Anniversary showcase. The aim is to feature now and then pictures of past projects to highlight how well Alpha Rail metal railings have lived up to our promise of high quality and will endure the test of time.
Other projects in the showcase include:
- Whitehall Gardens, Westminster
- Crystal Palace Park
- Camden Gardens, London
- Beaumont Road, London
- Cherry Gardens, Bermondsey
- Red Lion Square,
- St John’s Park, Isle of Dogs
