Alpha Rail is more commonly associated with providing bespoke architectural metalwork for commercial and larger scale residential developments. However, the opportunity to manufacture railings for a prestige residence on the banks of the River Trent just outside of Newark enabled us to display the high security benefits that metal railings can offer.
Having suffered a motoring accident, the home owner contacted Alpha Rail following a review of our website. He wanted metal railings for a courtyard at the rear of his property which backed immediately on to a pathway running alongside the River Trent. Members of the public were able to use the footpath and he wanted to protect against any unwanted intruders entering his courtyard as well as prevent any accidental falls into the river. He felt metal railings were the perfect perimeter fencing as they would retain the scenic views of the river and provide a level of intruder security that wooden fencing would not be able to provide.
Due to their contemporary aesthetics, Alpha Rail manufactured and installed 28 linear metres of 1120mm high Albany metal railings which were accompanied by a single leaf gatethat included a high level security mortice lock.
Railing posts were core drilled on a foundation wall surrounding the property which was built at a raised height above the level of the pathway and river. All railings and gates were polyester powder coated RAL Pebble Grey 7032 to ensure low maintenance and longevity whilst also matching the surrounding wall colour and paving.
Commenting on the project, Phil Ball of Alpha Rail said “This was quite an unusual project for us to take on, but once again it demonstrates our versatility in terms of being able to cater for our customers need. I’m proud that we have been able to provide a service that retains the aesthetics of the property which also helps the home owner to feel more secure.”
