School children and pedestrians in Forest Town are now better protected following the installation of a bespoke decorative pedestrian guardrail solution to the B6030, Clipstone Road in Forest Town, Nottinghamshire which was manufactured and supplied by Alpha Rail for installation by contractor Via East Midlands.
The new decorative pedestrian guardrail has been installed to an area of this busy main road near to the Forest Town Primary School main entrance where a puffin crossing was being installed. A recent audit conducted by Nottinghamshire County Council stated that increased protection in the area was of paramount importance and that a brand new pedestrian crossing would enable parents and children to safely cross the road.
Due to growing safety concerns and a rise in road traffic accidents, Alpha Rail was contacted by Via East Midlands to manufacture and supply decorative pedestrian guardrails that would match guardrail that was already installed at Clipstone Road.
Forest Town is a former mining community and the vertical infill bars of the existing pedestrian guardrail were designed to resemble the winding wheel of the former local Colliery headstocks. Renowned for its bespoke architectural metal fabricating expertise, Alpha Rail was commissioned to supply 11 panels of 2m wide 900mm high decorative guardrail and 14 grade 316 stainless steel posts with a brushed finish. The pedestrian guardrail panels were supplied galvanized and polyester powder coated black RAL 9005.
Commenting on behalf of Via East Midlands, Contracts Manager, Liam Douglas said, “Everyone we deal with at Alpha Rail is always very accommodating and helpful to work with. It is for precisely this reason that we choose to use them on many of our projects, particularly those that require bespoke metalwork.”
Phil Ball, Sales Director, at Alpha Rail added “Whilst safety was of paramount importance, it was also important that the new crossing matched other existing street furniture. In providing a bespoke pedestrian guardrail solution, the residents of Forest Town are protected and the environment is still aesthetically pleasing.”
