Decorative rail head finials

When you are in the sales team and have been involved in the quotation of metal work, it’s always nice to wander through the Alpha Rail dispatch yard to inspect a finished product before it is delivered to our customers. Last week I came across these lovely decorative rail head finials that are destined for a project in London.

The photographs are a perfect illustration of our expertise in designing and manufacturing bespoke decorative rail head finials to match other metalwork or themes related to the location in which the railings are being installed.

Quite often we are sent a hand drawing, a sketch of an image or a logo or emblem of what the rail head finial needs to resemble. Our skilled team of technical designers are able to transform these drawings into fantastic 3D images of the final result and, when combined with a landscaped background, we are able to show exactly what the finished railings will look like once installed in their natural surroundings.

Your hand sketches or architects drawings are scanned in and we use our CAD software to create a realistic three dimensional image.  Our ability to create a technical drawing with precise measurements from a hand drawn sketch enables the finished product to be shown visually on its own or against an appropriate picture backdrop so that the idea can be seen in draft format for approval prior to manufacture. This means any changes can be made before the cost of tooling and production are incurred and the finished railing and finial is made to measure and easy to fit.

The finials installed at the Forest Recreation Ground in Nottingham are a prime example. Featuring the Crest of Nottingham, the finials added the perfect finishing touch to a well publicised £5.2m project.

Other notable projects featuring decorative finials include the railings that now surround the infamous Catalpa tree in the grounds of Rochester Cathedral. We also manufactured finials shaped like a megaphone for Speakers Corner in Hyde Park.
