Grating fence is a composition of mild steel flat and round bars, it is an extremely versatile medium when employed in the field of architectural metalwork.
The raw grating mats are made using a process called electrofusing (sometimes known as electroforging), where the round bars are fused into the main flat bars with a specialist welding machine. This process is fully automated and is typically manufactured to large 6 metre length mats.
At the Alpha Rail production facility the mats are cut down to required size, which enables them to be fabricated into a product that meets the project requirements.
Some of the main benefits include strength, visibility and an aesthetically pleasing appearance. Grating fence has a high loading capacity without being extremely heavy. This makes it a fantastic choice for security fencing as well as closing voids to structural openings such as car parks or windows. They also boast excellent visibility thanks to the apertures between the flat and round bars, which is ideal for projects requiring natural light or even ventilation. Alongside the functional benefits, grating fence also looks the part, offering a modern touch to any site.
Once fabricated to suit project requirements, they are hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 as standard which will provide anti-corrosion properties and protect the metalwork for many years. Combine this with a polyester powder coated finish and further protection will be added to the product, as well as enhancing the visual appeal.
Different grille aperture sizes are available depending on project requirements. This includes 132mm x 62mm (rectangular) and 62x66mm (square) which provide good levels of physical and visual security.
