Alpha Rail has recently supplied its Albany railings as part of a local environmental improvement project in Nottinghamshire.
About the product
Albany metal railings by Alpha Rail are an attractive, more decorative alternative to having a basic vertical bar railing with blunt, round or pointed tops. It comes with a machined top decorative rail head (finial) and post tops.
Over the years, Albany railings have proven to be a popular choice among architects when specifying a perimeter fence for settings such as parks, churches, and listed buildings. They are part of our range of five designs that can be viewed on our website, each having a standard detail drawing available for download.
Project case study
A proposal was put together by Ashfield District Council to improve Sutton Cemetery, building an extension to the rear of the existing cemetery on Jubilee Road. The new 4100sq metre site has a gated access leading to a parking area for those visiting graves. Alpha Rail’s Albany was specified by the client Ashfield District Council, by their Senior Regeneration Officer Paul Crawford to go around the perimeter of the site along with an ornate double leaf gate to match the railings, creating a secure but sophisticated looking boundary for visitors of the cemetery.
The tender contract was subsequently awarded to Parkin Contractors Ltd, who appointed Alpha Rail to manufacture and supply approximately 120 linear metres of 1.8m high Albany railings and a 3.8m wide ornamental gate to match. All materials were hot dipped galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 as standard followed by a polyester powder coated finish in RAL 9005 jet black.
Phil Ball, Sales Director at Alpha Rail said, “As we work nationwide supplying and installing metalwork up and down the country, it’s always a nice change of pace to get involved in a project just around the corner from us. We think that the Albany railings were a good choice for this cemetery extension as they offer the right level of aesthetic whilst keeping the site safe and secure.
