Florence Park, located in Oxford, features tennis courts, play areas and a tree lined promenade. It is home to colourful flowerbeds and planting, plenty of wildlife and native trees to enjoy.
A recent project by Oxford City Council has seen the park’s former mini golf course get transformed into a forest school/natural play area. Originally, the area was surrounded by a wire mesh fence that was becoming dated and worn.
In order to stop this corner of the park looking neglected, Oxford City Council wanted to refurbish the whole section, which included the supply and installation of some new metal railings and gate to lift the overall appearance of the area.
In total, Alpha Rail supplied and installed 33 linear metres of 1200mm high bow top railings, along with a 2.4 metre wide gate to match the railings. All materials were hot dipped galvanised as standard followed by a polyester powder coated finish in RAL 9005 jet black. The railings improve the overall aesthetics of the newly refurbished area and were chosen to match the form and colour of the existing park railings. Another requirement of the metalwork was to ensure that it was effective at keeping dogs out.
Commenting, Green Space Development Manager Chris Bell said, “We are pleased with the new railings, which along with the overall refurbishment of this enclosure, will help ‘lift’ this formerly neglected corner of the park.”
