Crystal Palace Park is a Victorian pleasure ground, located in the south-east London suburb of Crystal Palace. In 1986 control of the park was given to the London Borough of Bromley and its is one of London’s major parks comprising a sports stadium, stonework dinosaur exhibition and the site of the former Crystal Palace which was destroyed by fire.
In 1988, Alpha Rail was appointed to supply and install 1800mm high vertical bar railings which were mounted in 3m wide sections on top of 500cm high brick walls and in between square pillars. The installation included decorative infills and finials. In total over 500+ metres of railings was installed to create boundary walls between the park and adjacent roadways.
Alpha Rail also supplied wider vehicle entry gates at the South entrance to the park which featured large round mounting pillars that were made of steel, embossed with the park name, galvanized and painted black.
Crystal Palace Park is one of the projects Alpha Rail has chosen to feature as part of its 30th Anniversary showcase. The aim is to feature now and then pictures of past projects to highlight how well Alpha Rail metal railings have lived up to our promise of high quality and will endure the test of time.
