A new initiative from Transport for London (TFL) to create Cycle Super Highways has created the need for additional garden areas within Hyde Park for which Alpha Rail has supplied metal railings.
Traffic in London is becoming increasingly busy, and with congestion charges at an all-time high, the new cycle routes are providing commuters a safer, faster and more direct transport alternative to use for their journey into the City of London.
These new cycle routes run from outer London into and across Central London. Hyde Park is one of the locations where the Cycle Highways are being created. As part of the project to the construct the new two-way cycle route along the West Carriage Drive area of Hyde Park, the creation of new garden areas had been possible.
Having completed multiple projects in a number of the Royal Parks, Alpha Rail was contracted by FM Conway, the main contractor on the Super Cycle Highway project to supply metal railings.
In order to match in with the appearance of existing decorative metal railings within Hyde Park, Alpha Rail was asked to manufacture and install 160 metres of 800mm high interlaced bowtop metal railing. Alpha Rail was able to supply metal railings that were accurately radiused to create a perfectly curved boundary to the gardens. The railings now help to prevent park users from entering flower beds and causing damage.
We also supplied a bespoke single leaf gate which was affixed to 70cmx70cm support posts. Five of decorative vertical bar metal railing was also supplied.
All metalwork was supplied galvanized and polyester powder coated BS12B29 Midnight Green to protect it from the elements and ensure low maintenance.
Robert Dowling, Parks Manager, commented “We have used Alpha Rail on many previous occasions for similar projects within the Royal Parks. They liaised effectively with Daniel Wilson, the project manager on the Cycle Superhighway at TFL and ensured that the project was completed on time and to a very high standard.”
