Optirail

The Optirail™ pedestrian guardrail system, originally known as Visirail, has been a market leader in safety since the late 1970s. Invented by Dr Douglas Stewart, it features staggered infill bars designed to suit different road speeds, improving visibility and significantly reducing accidents. Alpha Rail acquired licensing rights in 1995, rebranding it as Optirail™ and continuing to supply high-visibility guardrails for various projects.

The primary function of pedestrian guardrails is to guide pedestrians safely to designated crossing points, a feature achieved by all Alpha Rail guardrails. However, Optirail™ goes a step further, offering unmatched visibility for both pedestrians and drivers at high-risk locations. Its visibility improvement factor of 3 ensures enhanced reaction times, allowing more time to see, be seen, and take evasive action.

Optirail™ is a panel and post system featuring three distinct panel types: V2, V4, and V8. Each panel is uniquely designed with staggered infill bars to suit varying road speeds.
