M1/SM1 Pedestrian Guardrail is our most popular and cost-effective standard guardrail product. This pedestal guardrail type is a common sight on UK roadsides, as it’s used by most local authorities across the length and breadth of Britain.
The M1/SM1 pedestrian guardrail is a simple unit panel design which meets all the current British Standards (BS 7818:1995) and is also available as a high visibility pedestrian guardrail (M2/SM2 Pedestrian Guardrail).

The current British Standard for pedestrian guardrails in the UK is BS 7818:1995.

One basic requirement for all guardrails for pedestrian safety is that they consist of two horizontal rails and reach a height of at least 1050mm height above ground. The M1 pedestrian guardrail meets these requirements.
