Project Overview

Client Overview:

Thorpe and Fletcher are a small building contractor who we have worked for in the past. They were in contact with us to work with them on their most recent project. For this project they were building a number of student accommodations on Ayr St, Nottingham, our role in this would be to supply railings to be fixed to the top of the walls around the buildings in this accommodation.

Project Brief:

We were approached by Dave Fletcher, the Director of Thorpe and Fletcher, to supply flat top railings that were to be fitted at the top of a wall around each block of accommodation. We also supplied three single leaf, self-closing, access controlled, vertical bar gates.

The core focus of this project was to create self-closing gates so that always locks behind you to stop intruders or unwanted visitors entering the accommodation.

Alpha Rail Solution

Alpha Rail’s Approach:

Here at Alpha Rail, we have a team of Bespoke Metalwork specialist technicians that support our clients to make the right choice for their project. We’re able to advise on design, size and other technical specifications. In this specific project, our approach was clear – Flat Top Railings were the right product for the job.

Alpha Rails role was to supply flat top railings and three gates to Thorpe and Fletcher. We began by site surveying the area with constructed walls and then creating the technical drawings to suit this.

After getting approval we then began making the railings and gates to suit. These were galvanized and then polyester powder coated in anthracite grey after the client changing their mind from having them black. The gates are all self-closing and have digi locks on them to keep anyone out who doesn’t know the access code.

The Results

The project turned out well, the clients were very pleased with the outcome of our part in the project. The railings have added a very clean looking aesthetic to the new buildings and the locks are successfully keeping people out and making the area feel generally more protected and safer for the students.
