Alpha rail has recently been involved with a project to install pedestrian guardrail at Weston-Super-Mare. The client’s representative Alexander Merilton, the engineer at North Somerset council, was in contact with Peter Leahy who was the contracts manager at Gunite Eastern Ltd, as they had some traffic damaged wall and railings. After this incident the council decided that they should get brand new railings all the way down Birkett Road rather than just replacing the damaged ones.
Gunite Eastern Ltd were in contact with Alpha Rail to enquire about the removal of old railings and replacing with 70m of new ones. Down Birkett Road there had been a road accident where a car had gone through a section of railings and a small wall. Originally North Somerset Council were only going to have the damaged railings replaced however they soon realised it would be more beneficial to them to have all the railings replaced on Birkett Road.
Alpha Rail were hired as a subcontractor by Gunite Eastern Ltd to manufacture and install 70m of decorative pedestrian guardrail at Birkett Road. The project as a whole went well especially considering the fact that the railings had to be formed to a radius, this means that there is a curve in the wall where the panels have to be manufactured to suit.
North Somerset Council were so pleased with the results of how the railings turned out that they are currently looking at extending it and adding more of the same railings around the area.
