Project Overview

Our Playspec Bow Top system is the ideal choice for schools. As well as looking the part, these railings are designed to meet the anti-entrapment requirements of the BS EN 1176 Play Equipment Safety standard. This ensures that the gaps between infills do not exceed 89mm in order to reduce the risk of children becoming trapped between the rails.

Cumnor House is a school based in Sussex and is one of the country’s leading independent day and boarding schools for 2-13 year-old boys and girls. When planning to create a new space in which the school’s Reception aged (five-year olds) would play, a solution was needed in order to keep the space safe and prevent any unauthorised access.

Alpha Rail Solution

In total, 32 linear metres of 1800mm high Playspec Bow Top was supplied to the school, which was hot dipped galvanized to BS EN ISO 1461 as standard, followed by a polyester powder coated finish in RAL 6005 Moss Green. The railings will provide an effective barrier that will keep the young children inside the area, allowing them to play safely.

"The railings supplied by Alpha Rail look smart, and we were particularly impressed by the ease of installation with the supplied posts. Our new area is now extremely secure yet attractive, and we look forward to enjoying the long-term benefits of choosing metal instead of wooden fencing. Our children will now be able to play safely in this area for many years to come."
