Martello Park is a newly created leisure and recreation space between the Martello Park housing development and the Felixstowe seafront. The area runs between from Sea Road to Manor Terrace.
Suffolk Coastal District Council wanted to further enhance the public park space being created by the housing developer to add a new Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliant public toilet block, additional play equipment and a new entrance arch to provide identity to the main access from the existing seafront.
Alpha Rail was initially approached to provide an outline design to establish feasibility and budget costs for the new archway. With the minimum of fuss, we interpreted the drawings into a working design and presented 3D representations. The design was reviewed and amended by staff and consultation with officers from Suffolk Coastal District Council and Suffolk Coastal Norse (operational partners to the DC). Alpha Rail won the contract to supply and install the archway as we offered the best value.
The professional service offered by Alpha Rail ensured that the council officers time to agree the exact requirements of the project was kept to a minimum. We manufactured and installed a decorative metal archway with coloured lettering. The arch was powder coated Blue RAL 5002 complete with GREEN highlighted areas in RAL 6037. We also supplied a 5100 wide x 3500 high grey square on top of the archway with two little windows to resemble forts around the area which helped maintain the history and heritage of the area.
