A build of a new six bedroom home for residents with learning disabilities has been funded by Elizabeth Fitzroy Support to replace an old day centre in the ground of Huws Care Home.
A substantial Victorian building, the care home comprises single bedrooms with en-suite facilities, plus shared living, dining and kitchen areas, which are situated on the ground floor. The home caters for people under 65 with learning disabilities and other medical problems.
Alpha Rail were commissioned by Cowan Architects of East Grinstead in West Sussex. We supplied 29 metres of 950mm high bow top railings, 94 metres of single handrails, and 34 metres of 900mm high handrails.
All metalwork was supplied fully galvanised and painted green on site to help preserve and protect it from the elements. The new railings and handrail provide support to residents and visitors walking along the steps and walkways that border the grounds to the care home.
The plan is to move residents in to the new care home and refurbish the main building which will also be fitted with new railings and hand rails from Alpha Rail.
"This is the first time we have worked with Alpha Rail and we are pleased with the quality of their metalwork products and the service they provided. Even when we required changes to the initial specification, we found them very accommodating and helpful. They have supplied us with railings and handrail which exactly met project’s needs and we hope to use them on other projects in the future"- Gail Brook, Cowan Architects
