Project Brief:

We were approached by Contracts Managers, Chris Alger to support his project with Derby City Council. It was important for Chris to be able to meet his objectives on the project to ensure the end client was satisfied. His core focus was to make the Wyvern Retail Park in Derby, more accessible for pedestrians and cyclists. This was to be achieved by the construction of a new entrance pathway.

Alpha Rail Solution

Alpha Rail’s Approach:

Here at Alpha Rail, we have a team of Bespoke Metalwork specialist technicians that support our clients to make the right choice for their project. We’re able to advise on design, size and other technical specifications. In this specific project, our approach was clear – M1 Pedestrian Guardrail and M2 Pedestrian Guardrail were the right product for the job.

Here’s the breakdown of how the project was approached:

  1. We worked with Contracts Manager, Chris Alger to choose the right product to match his project specifications
  2. Our team of technicians were able to carry out a site survey to access the needs of the project
  3. We agreed on the exact type of Pedestrian Guardrail to be installed
  4. We then worked closely with their internal teams to agree on a timeline for the delivery of the Guardrail onto site
  5. We then followed up with our contact to ensure we met their expectations and helped them to deliver the work for their client on time and to specification.

Were there challenges to this project?

We were asked if we would be able to provide smaller panel sections which could then be retro fitted onto the end of the guardrail. The purpose of this was to close the gap between the PGR and the mesh fencing.

We were indeed able to support Chris with this bespoke request.

The Results:

The result was that we were able to improve yet another new public pathway, providing more safety to pedestrians and cyclists. We had great feedback from our contact Chris Alger who was very happy with the end results of his Retail Park project and that the end client, Derby City Council, were also very pleased.
