For those who want a more unique result, Alpha Rail’s full-service approach allows clients to have metalwork that follows curves, gradients and custom designs if required.
Alpha Rail was contacted by John Groves of Lavendon Grange to discuss requirements for some new metalwork at the estate. Lavendon Grange is a prestigious 15th-century country estate located in Buckinghamshire and was once home to Dr Richard Newton (cousin of Sir Isaac Newton), member of the Lavendon Parish and founder of Hertford College.
15 linear metres of Flat Top metal railings were installed on the west wing patio in order to avert any risk of fall from height. With an approximate 10-foot drop beyond the patio, it was crucial that the metalwork installed was compliant with relevant building regulations and was effective at keeping the patio safe.
For the driveway leading up to the property, 72 linear metres of Welded Unit Estate Rail was selected – a popular choice for historic buildings and estates. A 1700mm wide double leaf gate was also installed to match the Estate Rail. Following the site survey and during preparation of the area for our installer, a tree stump was being removed, which lead to the discovery of some existing metal Estate Railings that may have been taken out many years ago for the war effort!
All materials were hot-dipped galvanised as standard followed by a polyester powder coated finish in RAL 9005 jet black.
"I had initially searched online and quickly realised that an off-the-shelf solution would not be good enough for the project, particularly for the west-wing patio where we were worried about it looking too industrial. All of the metalwork installed by Alpha Rail looks in keeping with the property and has already generated a lot of interest and positive feedback. I found Alpha Rail to be a good company to work with and had positive experiences with both the surveyor and installer. It is clear that Alpha Rail is a specialist in its field and would not hesitate to work with them again moving forward."- John Groves, Client
