Project Overview

The Chapel is a Grade II Listed building located in Castlefield’s Urban Heritage Park. The building was originally opened as a Congregational chapel in 1858 and was designed by the local architect, Edward Walters. The building was the home of the Stock, Aitken and Waterman Hit Factory during the 1980s.

The building has been the subject of a major redevelopment and refurbishment program to provide office accommodation for businesses in the creative industries.

Alpha Rail Solution

Alpha Rail was appointed to supply and Install 39 linear metres of decorative vertical bar railings and support posts which were powder painted black-in order to fit in with the history and heritage of the building.

Previously the exterior of the building had temporary wire mesh fencing. This has all now been replaced with metal railings that reflect the origins of the building. The garden area has been landscaped with grass and shrubs have been planted to compliment the garden area which overlooks the Rochdale canal.

"The team at Alpha Rail did a splendid job and the new metal railing provide the perfect finishing touch and perimeter barrier for this iconic building."
