Project Overview
Alpha Rail has recently completed the installation of decorative metal railings on a Southend Borough Council funded parks and restoration project.
Located close to the iconic Southend on Sea pier, the park known as The Shrubbery runs directly adjacent to the seafront and is a popular attraction amongst locals due to the quirky miniature model castles it encompasses.
After being given some initial concepts by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, Alpha Rail used their expertise to develop the ideas into reality. A thorough site survey was required due to the complexity of the project due to varying gradients and levels of the landscape.
The project involved the installation of 30 metres of 1100mm high decorative metal railings were installed to the main frontages of the park.
In addition to this, a further 44 metres of 1100mm high balltop metal railings were installed internally to provide perimeter protection for the remaining areas of the park.
A single leaf gate was also added to provide staff with entry access to the park, as well as some decorative feature columns to match the railings, which came complete with laser profiled text.
All metalwork provided was supplied galvanised and polyester powder coated RAL 7035 Grey to provide protection from rust and adverse weather conditions including protection from the salty atmosphere, prevalent in a seafront location.
"I am extremely proud of the metal railings we have installed on this project. Not only are they a truly bespoke design which have transformed the parks landscape but they have also added a level of protection as they prevent tourists from climbing on the rockery."- Phil Ball, Alpha Rail
